Nurse Jean Johnson (Marshall)
Nurse Johnson's Hand Washing Tips
At back to school night, Nurse Johnson asked parents to practice these good hand washing techniques with our children. Ask your child to:
- Turn on the water
- Get his/her hands wet
- Get a little bit of soap
- Rub soap on hands – back, front, between fingers,
- Keep rubbing while singing the Happy Birthday Song
- THEN hands back under the water to rinse off
Don’t forget to go over good respiratory etiquette as well!
September 2009 - Jean Johnson, School Nurse
Welcome back to those of you returning and a warm welcome to the new families joining us at Marshall School. I hope that everyone had a great and relaxing summer. I will keep you up to date monthly on health issues. For now, I am in the process of collecting and updating our new students’ health information (physical examination forms and vaccine boosters). Please submit them as soon as possible as I inform you of missing documents.
Please inform me of pertinent medical concerns if you haven’t already done so.
And remember that Marshall is a Nut Free School.
Thank you,
Jean G. Johnson
Nurse Carole Scalgione (Jefferson)
Nurse’s Notes by Carol Scalgione, R.N.
5,974 student office visits, 1821 self adhesive dressings (AKA Band-Aides), 1675 body temperature measurements, 109 teeth lost, heights, weights, blood pressures, vision screenings, hearing screenings, phones ringing, attending meetings, consultations, e-mails, health education…. all of this in just 160 days of school (as of May 14). WOW! The Health Office was a busy place! I am always amazed at what we accomplish!
As the school year draws to a close, I look around and see such beautiful changes in each and every one of our students. When taking a look and seeing just how much they have grown physically, intellectually, emotionally… I am always awestruck by their growth in just 160 days! They are something else!
I wish the 5th graders all the best as they continue on to the next step of their education at our middle schools. Parents/guardians please look for an important notice on the mandated vaccine requirements for 6th graders.
Here’s wishing you all a wonderful summer!
